Lettuce 'Salad Bowl' | Lactuca sativa | Seeds | Heirloom | Non-GMO | 300 Seeds
A loose-leaf heirloom with lush, oak-shaped leaves, Salad Bowl Lettuce is prized for its tender texture and mild, non-bitter flavor. Grown for cut-and-come-again harvests, this variety resists bolting longer than most and produces reliably from early spring through late fall.
Excellent for baby greens or full-sized heads, it thrives in raised beds, containers, and any cool-season garden.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner-Friendly
Salad Bowl germinates quickly, grows fast, and produces generously. It tolerates heat better than many lettuces, making it a favorite for first-time gardeners and succession planting.
Pollinator Friendly:
• Attracts beneficial insects if allowed to flower
Planting & Care Details:
• Light: Full Sun to Partial Shade
• Plant Height: 6–10"
• Spacing: 6–10" apart
• Watering: Keep soil consistently moist
• Soil: Loose, well-drained, rich in organic matter
• Frost Tolerance: Excellent – prefers cool weather
• Zones: 3–9
GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Direct sow 2–4 weeks before last frost or late summer for fall crops. Sow ¼" deep, 1" apart. Thin once true leaves emerge. Germinates in 7–10 days at 60–65°F.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS:
• Harvest baby leaves as early as 25 days
• Cut outer leaves to encourage regrowth
• Shade during hot weather to delay bolting
• Succession sow for fresh greens all season
