Roman Chamomile Seeds (Chamaemelum nobile)
A timeless herb known for its delicate, daisy-like blooms and sweet apple fragrance. Roman chamomile is one of two common varieties used in herbal teas and traditional medicine—the other being German chamomile (Matricaria recutita). Both offer similar calming benefits, but Roman chamomile is a low-growing perennial with a creeping habit, perfect for edging, herbal lawns, or tucked among garden paths.
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Chamomile is generally easy to grow, but starting indoors and ensuring light exposure during germination helps ensure strong, early blooms.
Growing Notes:
Chamomile can be direct-sown after the danger of frost has passed or started indoors for an earlier summer bloom. For best results, start seeds indoors 6 weeks before your last expected frost. Sow on the surface or press lightly into soil—chamomile needs light to germinate.
• Germination: 10–14 days
• Light: Full sun to partial shade
• Soil: Well-drained, moderately rich
• Water: Keep moist during germination
Perfect For:
• Herbal tea gardens
• Cottage borders
• Pollinator patches
• Medicinal herb beds
